Thank you John, Welcome Kitta

Message from Bobbi Montanari, Regional Chair…

June 30, 2013

On behalf of the Region 5 Administrative Committee and Professional Membership, I would like to thank John Geddert for his amazing job as our Junior Olympic Chair for the past 25 years.  Under John’s leadership, our region has experienced tremendous success and is definitely recognized as being the best in the country.

As we know, John is a very talented and passionate coach.  He is also an incredible administrator as he led the development of training camps, All Star trips, our teams at Nationals, and made our banquet a celebration.  His motivational speeches were very inspirational to all.

John will be greatly missed but always well respected and appreciated.  Thank you John.

Please welcome Kittia Carpenter to the Region 5 Administrative Committee as the new Junior Olympic Chair.  Kittia comes to us with a great deal of experience as a coach, judge, and administrator.  She is very well respected by her peers and known throughout the country for her continual success.

Kittia has already been hard at work organizing training camps and preparing for the All Star Trip.  She has several goals and is excited to continue the success of our region.  Please continue to view the Region 5 website (Region5.com) for updates as Kittia leads the next direction.

Go Region 5!

RACC Resignation

Message from Bobbi Montanari, RACC…

June 15, 2013
Dear Region 5 Gymnastic Members,

It has been an honor and privilege to serve as your Regional Chair the past six years.  I have loved and enjoyed the position!  Your trust and support has allowed me to guide Region 5 and to work for the betterment of all our clubs, coaches, and athletes.

However after exhaustive thought, a time has come for me to make the heartbreaking decision and resign my position as Regional Chair.  The recent changes to our regional committee and people associated with the Region have made this transitional phase extremely stressful.   My health has suffered as a result.  I had no idea stress could be so mentally and physically disabling.  Although I would never expect calm waters forever, the recent turmoil within the region is more than I can handle at this time.

I look forward to working hand in hand with the new Regional Chair on the organizational details associated with our 2013 Regional Congress and their additional regional roles and responsibilities.  I will gladly serve as a mentor to foster a smooth transition.

I love Region 5 and know that when we work cohesively, we will continue to be the best in the country!  My Best Wishes!

Kind regards,
Bobbi Montanari

2013 Training Camps Update

Message from Sandy Sabo, 2013-14 Region 5 Training Camps Director…

The host sites and information for Region 5 Camps are posted on the Region 5 web site. Please read carefully for there are several changes to the camp criteria. These changes were proposed and passed by the Region 5 Committee back in July of 2012 for implementing in the 2013 camp season to better specify the criteria for entering a camp and to increase the level and quality of our Region 5 Camps.

Now is the time to choose and plan your camps. Registration, Camp Coach Volunteer, and Judge Volunteer forms will be posted soon. Please check the Region 5 web site often for updates.

You will notice some very exciting changes also. We will be offering a TOPs group at Hot Shot Camp which will provide training for National TOPs Qualifiers as well as information for those who are interested in starting a TOPs program. This will be a great opportunity for any coaches wanting to learn more about the TOPs Program and methods of training it.

The other most exciting thing is the addition of an NCAA Showcase in conjunction with HI Tech Camp. After HI Tech Camp is full, there is now an opportunity to enter your athlete in the Showcase so that she may be seen by the college coaches that attend HI Tech. You can read more details about this on the Region 5 web site.

If you have any questions, there is a way to ask me or Kittia Carpenter questions from the Region 5 web site.
